Health Document for Puppy Purchasers and Breeders of the Griffon Bruxellois

The idea for the Griffon Bruxellois Club of Victoria's Health Documents followed on from the Club's Health Seminar held in April 2011. A sub-committee was subsequently formed and work commenced to bring you these Health documents.

We are working to encourage responsible and ethical breeding practices and continue to support veterinary research into health issues. We have complied a breeders checklist document with provision for any results of parental tests for a variety of abnormalities, including hip dysplasia, luxating patellas, juvenile cataracts etc.

These Health documents are available to be downloaded and used by members & non-members alike.

If you are a puppy buyer you may wish to take a copy of the puppy buyers document with you to the breeder of your choice and get as much information from the breeder as you can.

Please note: Every breeder, if registered with the ruling 'Dog' body in their state, must provide each puppy purchaser with either a full or limited pedigree registration paper at time of purchase. If this is not included in the price of the puppy we recommend that you do not go ahead with the purchase and contact the club for advice. This is your only guarantee of your puppy being a purebred Griffon Bruxellois.

All members of this club who are on our breeders list are registered members of their states ruling body, for example 'Dogs Victoria' ,and therefore must provide purchasers of their puppies with a pedigree registration paper. This should be included in the purchase price.

Chair…..Griffon Health sub-committee

At our June 2013 Meeting, the Griffon Bruxellois Club of Victoria Committee passed a motion recommending that all members who are adopting pups into a new home provide the new owner with a puppy pack consisting of the completed Health Document, a copy of our Club's booklet 'Stripping and Clipping Your Griffon' and a first year membership subscription to our Club. Do enquire of the breeder of your choice if they will provide the complete puppy pack. This includes a purebred pedigree registration paper with either a full  register (blue in colour) or limited register (orange in colour). Please note:Puppies acquired with a limited registration paper are purebred Griffon Bruxellois but cannot be shown or bred from.
